Victoria Police Announce MASSIVE Road Blitz
An extra 300 police shifts will be added statewide as part of a crackdown on Victoria's road toll.
The 10-week blitz, funded by the Transport Accident Commission, will see additional police clamping down on poor driver behaviour, including drink and drug-driving, speed and motorcyclist, pedestrian and cyclist safety.
It comes after 76 people died on the state's roads this year, almost half more than this time last year.
Priority areas will include Bendigo, Dandenong, Epping and Shepparton.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Neville Taylor said locations known for bad driver behaviour will be targeted.
"Different regions are battling different issues that drive up their road trauma," he said.
"The community can't continue with their current driving habits as it is ultimately killing friends, family, and loved ones."
