Good News, Melbourne, We Just Got Another Public Holiday!
It's official, Victoria has decided to give workers a public holiday this Christmas day after all.
Victoria was the only state not to declare Sunday December 25 a public holiday but on Friday backflipped, meaning there'll be three public holidays from December 25 to 27.
This meant that anyone working on Christmas day would receive normal Sunday rates, with public holiday penalties instead paid to those who work on Tuesday December 27.
Small Business Minister Philip Dalidakis reconsidered his initial decision while on a trip to Israel following sustained criticism from unions and some Labor party colleagues.
Now that's the christmas spirit!
