TWO Major Melbourne Shopping Centres Set For HUGE Expansions

Shopping centre giant GPT group is looking to expand its Highpoint shopping centre in Melbourne’s West.

The new plans, which have not yet been finalised, may include the opportunity of a hotel being built on the site.

The plan is for Highpoint to rival the new look Chadstone, which has undergone a major revamp.

Highpoint, which itself underwent a major redevelopment in 2013, was the first shopping centre in the country to have Zara and TopShop under one roof but they want more!

The east side of the centre is likely to expand with 30,000 square metres to include a second Coles supermarket fresh food, more international outlets and new leisure and entertainment spaces.

The idea is to have the work completed by 2020.

GPT is also looking to add three more floors to its Melbourne Central mall in the centre of the CBD. It will include a $70 million rooftop expansion, which will include retail, leisure and entertainment spaces.
