These Are The Most Popular Baby Names In Melbourne!

Charlotte has become the queen of baby names in Victoria for 2016 AGAIN!

For the third year running, the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages has revealed nothing can beat it!

The top five is rounded out by Olivia, Mia, Amelia and Ava, with Evelyn breaking into the top 20 and replacing Sienna.

For boys, it’s Jack, William and Noah as the top three, with James knocking Thomas out of the top 5.

The names Harry and Samuel have replaced Oscar and Benjamin tin the top 20.

Girls names looked very different decade ago when Michelle, Karen, Lisa, Susan and Sharon claiming the top five places, while David, Peter, Michael, Paul and Andrew were the most popular names for boys.

Some boys names have stood the test of time, with Lachlan and Jack both featuring in the top 20.

Attorney-General Martin Pakula said“Victorian parents have again shown an affinity with the name Oliver, while more traditional names such as Harry and Samuel made a resurgence in 2016.”

“Charlotte moved in to the top place for girls, no doubt inspired by the royal arrival of the daughter to the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge.”
