Target Issues Product Recall After Safety Violation

Following an investigation by the ACCC, Target has been forced to recall a line of trikes, that could be mistaken as strollers.

The brand is SmarTrike, and the investigation, which started back in early 2018, found that the products do not meet the the necessary safety standards.

Target Australia posted a warning to their Facebook page to notify customers of the recall.

The caption reads as follows.

At Target Australia, the safety of our customers is our highest priority. We are committed to providing products that are safe and Target takes its safety obligations very seriously. The ACCC recently conducted an investigation into tricycles sold by a number of retailers including Target and has concluded that some SmarTrike tricycle models have attributes of strollers and do not comply with the Mandatory Safety Standard for strollers. Target ceased selling those products when the investigation began in mid-2018 and is now recalling them, together with some other tricycle models. Customers who purchased one of the pictured products believing that it was a stroller can return it to a Target or Target Country store, with or without a receipt, where our team members will provide you with a full refund.
