Sydney Swim Teacher Accused Of Sexual Abuse Back At Uni

A Sydney swimming teacher facing 31 charges of sexual abuse against young girls has been released on bail and is back attending classes at the University of Sydney.

The case against 20-year-old Kyle James Henk Daniels claims that he sexually abused eight young girls while he was their swimming coach.

His lawyer has said Mr Daniels strongly denies the allegations.

He was released on bail last week with strict conditions saying he must report to police daily and that he can’t leave his house between 6pm and 6am.

While on bail, Mr Daniels is back attending classes at Sydney University, with his classmates shocked to see him in a tutorial yesterday.

A statement released from the University of Sydney has confirmed that the 20-year-old is attending classes and that they are aware of the criminal charges against him.

“Always, our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and broader community,” the statement began.

“We are aware of the criminal charges against current student Mr Daniels and are monitoring the process of the legal proceedings. We understand the circumstances relating to the charges involve conduct outside the University.

“Our Student Discipline Rule does not extend to non-University related conduct, and we are obliged to let the legal process take its course.

“Mr Daniels was recently released on bail subject to bail conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court again in the coming weeks. We have met with Mr Daniels to discuss his return to studies in a way that is safe and appropriate for both him and our whole University community.

“We remind all of our students that we offer counselling and other services if they feel they need support.”

Mr Daniels studies sports science at the University.

This comes after court documents from Daily Mail Australia revealed the timeline of Mr Daniels’ alleged offences.
