Suns Have Officially Addressed Those Ablett Trade Rumours
After plenty of speculation this season, the Gold Coast Suns have confirmed that Gary Ablett has requested a trade back to his original Club, Geelong, in next month's trade period.
However, it seems the 17th AFL franchise will not go down without a fight - refusing to hand over their prized recruit and captain of the Club between 2011-16.
In the statement released this afternoon, the CEO Mark Evans made clear that they were option to trade negotiations but conditions would need to be met.
"Gary Ablett today informed the club of his desire to be traded to Geelong during next month's exchange period."
"We indicated to Gary and his manager Liam Pickering that there are conditions that will need to be met for the Gold Coast if this is to be achieved."
"Scott Clayton will be available to meet with Liam and Geelong to ensure these conditions are met."
The club will not be making any further comment.
Ablett had floated the idea of a trade back to Geelong in last year's trade period, however a mutually acceptable deal could not be agreed upon between the two clubs.
