SES Warning Released As Winds Continue To Grow In Melbourne

Gale force winds have disrupted flights, cut power and had a cycling event change routes, as wind gusts reach 120km/h.

Winds are likely to reach their peak over the next few hours (as of 3:35PM) and the SES has released this diagram to go through BEFORE you call.

Melbourne airport was closed following a cargo plane hitting the runway on takeoff, which has now lead to large delays.

Emergency services were also called to Highpoint Shopping Centre after the roof was torn away at lunchtime.

And at least 13,000 homes lost power in the state today, 5000 at Healesville, according to the State Emergency Service, this afternoon.
