REVEALED: How A Man Was Left Dead By In Overnight Shooting
Victoria Police’s Assistant Commissionaire Stephen Leane has revealed about what happened overnight in Tullamarine, after a man was left dead.
He has called the shooting ‘’"a tragic day for the Victorian community.’’
Leave said that the situation started when police spotted a car of interest, linked to burglaries at commercial buildings.
A police helicopter then tracked it to the Western Ring Road, where police tried to intercept the vehicle.
The car then evaded police and drove up an embankment and three men jumped out and fled on foot. They fled to some nearby factories and stole another vehicle.
A large team of police were able to track down the men to a factor in Carrick Drive, Gladstone.
One of the men was cornered by police and then rammed a police officer, pinning him against a wall.
The officer fired four shots, one of which killed the men.
The officer has sustained serious bone bruising on his leg but it is not broken.
As yet the man who was killed has not been identified.
Two other men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested nearby a short time later.
Assistant Commissioner Leane said the men did not appear to be connected to the Apex Gang.
