The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will officially kick off their Australian tour today after arriving in Sydney early Monday morning, and it couldn’t be happening at a better time, after the royal pair announced some exciting news last night.

Kensington Palace announced on Monday evening that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019, or around April here in Australia.

Those Sydneysiders hoping to catch a glimpse of the incredibly happy couple during this exciting time will be able to spot them around some popular hotspots today, including the Opera House and Taronga Zoo.

Harry and Meghan’s official duties will begin this morning with a meeting with the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Cosgrove. They are expected to be joined by representatives from the Invictus Games.

The soon to be parents will then head to Taronga Zoo where they will met some babies of a different kind, two baby koalas who were named after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ahead of their wedding back in May.

The royal engagements will then continue at the Sydney Opera House, with Harry and Meghan expected to catch a ferry over to Circular Quay. Here they will watch a rehearsal of the Bangarra Dance Company and walk along the forecourt with what is said to be an opportunity to “meet members of the public”.

Next the Duke and Duchess will open The Institute of Science and Learning, a new research and education facility for students that will be home to native bibles and quokkas as well as the largest collection of coal cells from the Great Barrier Reef.

The day will end with a reception at the Governor-General’s house before the royal pair fly to Dubbo on Wednesday.

But if you happen to miss out on catching a glimpse of the mum and dad to be, Harry and Meghan will be back in Sydney on Friday to visit more tourist spots like Bondi Beach and to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge before the Opening Ceremony of the Invictus Games on Saturday.

Australia could not be more excited to host Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, especially during such an exciting time for the pair!
