Police Swoop On Melbourne Suburb And Arrest 40 People
The Herald Sun is reporting police have have arrested more than 40 people during a crime blitz in Melbourne’s inner north.
Operation Apollo, which concluded on Sunday, pounded on more than 40 people with additional officers across the metro region tackling the drugs pouring into the streets of Richmond.
The two-week operation saw highly visible police presence around known drug hot spots such as Victoria Street, with mounted police, K9 units and undercover cops.
Between January 7 & January 20, the newspaper reports that five people were charged with trafficking illicit drugs, the majority of which was heroin. They also busted a crop house and charged a 45-year-old man with cultivating and trafficking cannabis.
Yarra Local Area Commander Acting Inspector Trish Duke said “Police have zero tolerance for drug traffickers and we will continue to prevent, detect and disrupt people who bring drugs into the community.’’
