An unknown Melbourne woman has been killed following a car accident in southwest Melbourne.

The woman died after being hit by a truck on Sladen Street, near the intersection of Fairbairn Road in Cranbourne, at about 1.30am on Thursday, while the 22-year-old male driver, who immediately stopped to help, was uninjured.

The pedestrian, who can't be identified, came from the northern side of Sladen Street near Valepark Crescent.

Police have described her as Caucasian in appearance, aged in her early 30s, wearing a green top, size ten grey tracksuit pants and grey and black Nike flywire runners.

Police are urging anyone who may know the woman to call Cranbourne Police Station on 5991 0600 or Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol on 8558 8654.
