Melburnians Warned Ahead Of Their Commute Home This Evening

Melburnians are being warned for peak hour chaos with wild weather hitting the city as we all clock off for the day.

A slow moving pressure system is making its way across the state and will leave a wave of destruction in its wake.

Drivers are being warned to be extra careful and pay attention to decreased speed limits across the city.

The downpour began in Yea last night, with the main street of the town being turned into a river. The town’s hospital was also struck by lightning but was not damaged.

Both Melbourne and Geelong are among a handful of places told to be on high alert for severe weather.

A spokeswoman for the Bureau of Meteorology said “We have a low pressure system slowing moving east across Victoria, ” the spokeswoman said.

“It’s moving along Warrnambool, and Geelong is a main area of focus for us — it looks like it will hit there in the mid-late afternoon.

“And then it will come through Melbourne around home time — about 5 or 6 pm.”

Be careful!
