Melbourne's Best And Worst Childcare Centres Revealed

Almost one in five Victorian childcare centres are falling short of the national standards, even though the state is topping the country’s preschool rankings.

A new report on the quality of Australia’s early childhood system shows Victoria has the highest rate of centres either meeting or exceeding official benchmarks.

However, across the state, 700 are not meeting standards in at least one of seven key areas. Nine have been warned they need improve ‘significantly’ but eight have been told they are exceeding themselves.

Overall, that means in Victoria, 1213 centres are ‘exceeding’ the standard and 724 are ‘working towards’ the standard.

The centres who require ‘significant improvement’ are;

Brilliant Kidz Family Day Care, Footscray
Dombai Family Day Care, Brookfield
Gateway Family Day Care, Werribee
Kids Homelike Family Day Care, Caroline Springs
Learn and Play House, Clayton
Milky Way Family Day Care, Derrimut
Precious Gemz Family Day Care, Brooklyn
Remy Family Day Care, Melton West

The centres rated ‘excellent’ are;

Clarendon Children’s Centre - South Melbourne
CPS Children’s Centre - Heidelberg West
Doveton College Early Learning Centre - Doveton
Joni Woraback Children’s Centre - St Albans
Lady Cowrie Child Care - Docklands
Little Beacons Learning Centre - Pakenham
Wesley College Early Childhood Learning Centre - Glen Waverley
