Melbourne Teen Impersonates Cop To Steal Car
An "extremely unconvincing" teenager on a motorbike allegedly pretended to be Victorian police officer to flag down a car in a bid to steal it.
The 17-year-old Newport boy has been charged with attempted robbery and impersonating a police officer in Tarneit on Sunday.
He allegedly also evaded police earlier in the night.
Several witnesses called police and they arrested him at the scene.
The boy's police performance was described as "extremely unconvincing".
He's been charged with attempted robbery, impersonating police, stating a false name, committing an indictable offence on bail, breaching bail conditions, driving unlicensed and driving an unregistered vehicle.
The teenager has also been charged with losing traction and improper use of a vehicle, and failing to stop a car on request.
He will appear before a children's court at a later date.
