Man Attacks Police In Late Night Attack At Train Station

A man has allegedly assaulted two protective service officers with an axe at Dandenong train station.

Police spokesman Thomas O’Byrne said the PSOs approached the man at Dandenong train station on Sunday about 3:25am.

He said that PSOs were attempting to speak with the man when they were first allegedly assaulted. He then ran away.

"As PSOs chased the man it's alleged he threw an axe at them," he said.

Police quickly arrived on the scene and the man was arrested in nearby Walker Street.

Paramedics treated the PSOs at the scene for minor injuries.

A Dandenong man, 36 was charged with a number of assault-related offences.
