Melbourne Is Set To Get Its Very Own TIMES SQUARE!
Melbourne is set to get its version of TIMES SQUARE!
Camberwell’s congested junction looks set to be partially closed and turned into a town square, and a tram super stop.
The redevelopment has been proposed by urban design firm Alexander Urbanism.
The six-way intersection would be reduced down to a four-way intersection at Burke Road and Riversdale Road, and they will shut small sections of Camberwell Road to the north and south of the junction.
The northern 50-metre section would be turned into a town square, with trees and alfresco dining.
At the southern end, a super tram stop would be used for Route 75, which travels between Docklands and Vermont South and operates 24-hours a day on the weekend.
A spokeswoman from VicRoads said the authority had "no plans in place to alter how [Camberwell Junction] operates".
