Melbourne Big W Store EVACUATED After Very Weird Incident
Customers and staff were evacuated from a BIG W store in Melbourne’s West on Tuesday after clothes were set on fire in the middle of the store.
Firefighters were called to the store in Central Square at Altona Meadows at 6PM.
There is understood to have been two small fires in separate sections of the store.
"There was smoke in the store," Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokeswoman Heather Stockton said.
"They were some clothes on fire. It was extinguished very quickly."
The police are now investigating the fire.
Three fire crews were alerted by an automatic alarm at the scene.
The store was fully evacuated before the firefighters arrived.
