Man Pleads Not Guilty To 39 Charges For Bourke St Rampage
Dimitrious Gargasoulas, 27, has appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court via video link today, where he pleaded not guilty to 39 charges.
His charges include six counts of murder, 28 counts of attempted murder and 5 other charges after a car mowed down pedestrians in Melbourne on January 20. Gargasoulas is accused of driving the car through the streets of the Melbourne CBD and deliberately striking pedestrians in the lunchtime crowd around Bourke and Queen streets, before he was shot and wounded by police.
The alleged victims of the attack included a ten-year-old girl. a three-month-old baby, and four adults aged between 22 to 33.
His case has been fast-tracked after waiving his right to a pre-trial committal hearing, and he’ll appear before the Victorian Supreme Court.
Gargasoulas will remain in custody until his hearing on Monday.
