MAJOR Transport Changes As Grand Final Fever Grips Melbourne

Melbourne’s free tram zone will be extended and extra Metro and V/Line services will be added to help footy fans across the city get to the Grand Final this week.

The free tram zone will be extended to the MCG stops 9, 10 and 11 as well as stops 7a and 7b at Rod Laver Arena.

Last year’s Grand Final Friday holiday has been regarding as an overwhelming success that the government have seen it as an opportunity to help Melbourne move.

Over 100,000 people are expected to fill the MCG and it means 27 extra Metro trains will run and 180 extra tram services will run on Saturday.

Fares on Grand Final Friday and Saturday will be capped at $6 for zone 1 and 2.

As per usual, 24 hour transport will run on Friday and Saturday night for everyone to get home.
