Heartbreaking Moment Son Is Told Of Mum’s Heroin Overdose
A father has had to do the hardest thing he’ll ever had to do; tell his eight-year-old son that his mother had died.
A recovering drug addict himself, it was Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark who had to reveal to his son that his mother had died of a drug overdose.
“I have something to tell you, OK? ... Mummy died last night,” Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark says.
He recorded the moment and posted the footage to Facebook on Tuesday.
The video begins with the boy and Mr Bickerstaff-Clark sitting across from one another at a table.
The father reaches over and grabs his son’s hand before delivering the message. “What? What do you mean, my mum?” he asks. “How?” “From drugs,” he is told, before breaking down and crying into the arms of a woman sitting next to him.
“I’m sorry” and “I love you” are all Mr Bickerstaff-Clark can muster.
After two minutes, he looks to the person filming and tells him, “That’s enough”.
The heartbreaking video has been viewed more than 14 million, and according to Mr Bickerstaff-Clark, serves as a message “for any and every addict with children.”
“Today I had to tell my eight-year-old son that his mommy died from a drug overdose,” he wrote.
“This is the realisation and reality of our disease. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My son has no mother because of heroin. Please get help so our children don’t have to suffer.”
He also revealed that he was 94 days clean and that the video is real. Source: news.com.au
