We Are About To See The WORST Weather Day YET!

Towns in North-Western Victoria have been put on high alert ahead of flash food, storms and damaging rain forecast for Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall is advancing across the state and the weather bureau has issued a severe warning for residents in the Mallee district, as well as parts of the Northern Country Wimmera, North Central, Central and Southwest regions.

Up to 50 millimetres of rain is predicted in the 24 hours from midnight.

"It's quite a big fall," Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Michael Efron said.

"That's around half to a month's worth of the September average.

Melbourne is set to get a soaking to, with an above average 20 millimetres of rain expect in the city.

"Rain will become more extensive and continuing into tomorrow [Tuesday]," Mr Efron said.

"Some of the western suburbs and down towards Geelong could pick up 20-25 millimetres."
