Geoff Huegill's Wife Sara 'Caught Stealing' $2,500 Pants
Former Olympic swimmer Geoff Huegill's wife Sara allegedly stole a pair of leather pants worth $2,500 from an exclusive Byron Bay boutique.
Over the weekend Mrs Huegill allegedly put the Bassike pants in her handbag before walking out without paying.
A staff member chased her down the road and before flagging down two police officers who subsequently arrested her.
Mrs Huegill refused to be interviewed and was released on bail after being charged with shoplifting.
Her lawyers statement read: 'Sara deeply regrets the incident and apologises unreservedly.'
'Sara has made good progress recently in being treated for issues related to anxiety and depression and acknowledges this is a setback.'
'She has asked for privacy and understanding for her family at this time.'
A NSW police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia: 'Just after 2.30pm on Sunday 13 May 2018, officers from the Mounted Unit arrested a woman on Fletcher Street at Byron Bay, after an alleged stealing at a nearby store.'
'Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District attended and the 34-year-old woman was taken to Byron Bay Police Station.'
'She was issued a Field CAN for the offence of shoplifting and is due to appear at Byron Bay Local Court on Thursday 7 June 2018.'
'The property was recovered and returned to the store.'
In 2014 the couple pleaded guilty to cocaine possession and were both given six-month good behaviour bonds after being caught with the prohibited drug in the bathrooms of an exclusive suite at Sydney's Randwick racecourse.
