Eighth Arrest Over Baby Formula Theft Worth $1 Million
A 22-year-old woman is the latest to be charged over the theft of more than $1 million worth of baby formula in Sydney.
Seven people have already been charged over the syndicate, including two women aged 29 and 48, and five men aged 31, 35, 42 and 53.
The latest arrest, made on Thursday, was the eighth. She was charged with 10 counts of larceny and one count of participating in a criminal group.
It will be alleged that she stole the tins from shops across Sydney before sending them overseas.
Retailers began to report a seemingly coordinated effort by a group of people to steal large quantities of baby formula, vitamins and Manuka honey in February 2018.
Six months later, officers seized more than 4000 tins of formula and more than $215,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime.
