EIGHT Melbourne Train Stations To Be CLOSED

Eight Melbourne train stations on the Sunbury line look set to be shut longer than expected due to union action.

The line between Sunshine station and Sunbury station was closed on October 5th and is scheduled to reopen on October 31.

However, the Herald Sun is reporting that works are now behind schedule, their works, with the CFMEU attending the level crossing removal sites and telling them to down tools.

Jacinta Allan, the public transport minister, said work was still on track for trains to resume on October 31 and ‘’We'll continuing to work closely with the contractors to resolve issues that may arise”.

The CMFEU has also targeted the $1.3 billion CityLink Tulla Widening and police officers had to attend the site last week.

The union is currently in a dispute with the contractor on the two locations, CPB, with has refused to which has refused to sign up to the union’s new enterprise agreement including 18 per cent pay rises over four years.

Industry watchdog Fair Work Building and Construction has launched an investigation into the union’s actions on both projects.
