A four day marathon debate in the lower house of Victorian Parliament has ended with the voluntary euthanasia bill being passed.

The bill will be presented to the upper house in two weeks time and euthanasia advocates believe that they currently have the numbers have the law approved.

The government-sponsored bill was brought into discussion on Tuesday and the debate continued into the early hours of the morning each day.

A conscience vote to pass the assisted dying legislation was called at around 11:15am this morning where it was approved, causing the room to erupt in applause.

Politicians spent four days debating the 141 clauses of the bill and suggesting amendments, but ultimately it ended with 47 votes supporting the bill and 37 votes against.

The house adjourned just after 11am.

More to come.
