Bloodshed at Anti-Islam, Anti-Racism Protests In Melton
Extreme protesters from the far Right and Left broke out in very violent battles in Melbourne's West yesterday.
Police struggled to contain the violence that was caused by clashes over plans to build a mosque and possible Islamic school in Melton.
Seven people were arrested at the protests including three detained for carrying knives.
There were estimated to be 1500 people involved in the riots.
Many left bloody and bruised.
The riots took place just over a week after the Paris attacks.
One anti-Islam protester was quoted saying "We're going to burn every mosque down if they build them ... Let's stick it up them".
Others chanted "No Muslims in Melton".
