Details About Melbourne's New CostCo Released
Melbourne’s north is getting pumped for a jobs boost with US supermarket Costco launching its fourth Melbourne store there.
The store at Pacific Epping Shopping Centre will open in 2018, creating 250 full-time and part-time jobs.
As well as the new supermarket, a new Quest Apartment Hotel with 96 unites will also open at the centre next to a precinct which will feature 1300sqm of new restaurants.
Costco opened its first Australian outlet at Docklands in 2009 and also has stores in Ringwood and at Moorabbin Airport.
The Epping store will be similar to the Moorabbin store, which features a petrol station. Costco Australia managing director Patrick Noone said Epping was a perfect location for the company’s fourth Melbourne warehouse.
“It’s offering convenience for our rapidly expanding membership in this area. We look forward to being an integral part of the growth in Melbourne’s north,” he said.
Pacific Centres spokesman Graham Terry said it would reinvigorate the shopping centre.
“With Costco, we are proud to be able to offer an international retailer offering for the growing numbers in our trade area,” he said.
“And with Quest Apartment Hotels, the nearest hotels are Tullamarine, Preston and Bundoora, so the demand is evident.”
Construction for Costco and Quest will start in mid-2017 and be due for completion in mid-2018.
