AFL And Police Released Warning Ahead Of Finals Arriving
Footy fans are being urged to get to the MCG VERY early ahead of tonight’s blockbuster clash between Hawthorn and Geelong.
The AFL and MCG have beefed up the security ahead of the game but the ‘ring of steel’ has not returned, contrary to reports.
Stadium chiefs have promised a heavy security presence to keep supports safe, with strict searches before entry.
Tonight’s class is expected to see the biggest crowd of the season so far, with well over 85,000 tickets already being purchased.
MCG chief executive Stephen Gough said ‘’on’t time your run to say ‘the game starts at 7.50pm so I will get there about 7.45’ because with the delay in normal traffic, wet weather and you have to be scanned to get in,’’ he said.
“Give yourself time so you’re not rushing in and missing the start of the action.’’
Rain is forecast tonight, so Yarra Park will be a reduced capacity and peak hour congestion will slow down peoples journey into Richmond.
