9-Year-Old Melbourne Girl Abducted Before Fleeing Attacker
A nine-year-old was abducted by a 50-year-old man in broad daylight while riding her bike to school on Wednesday.
The man allegedly grabbed the schoolgirl's bike, demanding she hop off and follow him.
It is reported that the nine-year-old did what she was told after being threatened, and began walking alongside the man.
In perfect timing, her mother called her mobile phone, and after quickly explaining the situation, she told her daughter to "just run". The girl took the advice and escaped her attacker, running to a local primary school, where she reported the incident to teachers.
The police rushed to the scene to begin searching for a 50-year-old man, described as being Caucasian in appearance with brown hair. He was last seen wearing grey tracksuit pants and black sneakers.
The abduction happened at 9am in Skeeter Drive, Mernda, in Melbourne's north-east.
It is believed that a suspect has been interviewed by the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation team, but Victorian Police are still urging those with any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 immediately.
