The Food Portions You See In Insta Photos Are WAAAY Too Much

A health blogger in the US is warning us that 'pretty' food may not always be healthy.

26 year old Amanda Meixner recently shared a photo to her Instagram comparing two bowls of Oatmeal.

The bowl on the left featuring half a cup of oatmeal, half a cup of strawberries, a quarter cup of blueberries and 20 grams of dark chocolate contained 320 calories.

Compared with the bowl in the much more elaborate bowl on the right with twice as many blueberries and a protein cookie crumbled on top, amounting to a whopping 716 calories.

"In all seriousness, I’ve been guilty of this before!" Amanda confessed.

"When you try to make your food extra pretty & overkill for the gram but really it’s way out of portion!"

Amanda is known for sharing diet and exercise advice on her Instagram and highlighting ways to cut calories.

This unnatural form of oil has been shown to increase inflammation, increase your risk of cardiovascular disease and the Omega-6 compound in it has been linked to cancer. —- Bonus info: This 2007-2010 showed that people who cooked at home 6-7 times a week eat less calories even if they weren’t specifically trying to lose weight. Spot the difference 😍 Kind of crazy how small changes can really add up! 🥑 Whether you want to add more calories or eat less, here is an example & some of my tips: . Lower cal meal: 2 eggs + 2 egg whites scrambled 1 piece Ezekiel toast 1/2 an avocado 1 honey crisp apple . Higher cal meal: 4 eggs + 2 egg whites scrambled 1 piece Ezekiel toast 1 whole avocado 1 honey crisp apple 2 tbsp peanut butter . Tips to save calories: Swap out some eggs for egg whites (egg whites are only 17 calories per one) Don’t pack on too much fat (1/2 or 1/4 an avocado is plenty for this meal!) Even though there’s no coffee displayed, watch out for the extra oils or creamer which can add calories too. .
