Night Time Snacks To Eat Without Putting On Weight
You know that diet rule that says you shouldn’t eat after 8pm? Well, screw that rule.
Watching what you eat around this time of the year is hard. I mean, another Christmas ham and cheese toastie? Don’t mind if I do.
But there are some snacks you can hack around so you’re not looking quite like the New Year’s weight loss resolution disappointment you actually could be.
These snackerydoos will keep you feeling full without you looking, ya know, full.
OK, we’re not talking about the double butter stuff with melted rocky road on the top. Also, unfortunately cinema and microwave popcorn are also off the table.
Know your popcorn.
Go for air-popped popcorn. Sounds miserable AF, right? OK, so try seasoning it with some healthy stuff like chili pepper flakes to get your metabolism going or sprinkle some garlic salt.
Make your own nut mix with walnuts, almonds, cashews and pistachios, but remember to get them raw and unsalted.
Thing is, if you roast or toast them yourself, at least you know what you’re getting.
Wait. Hold up. Put down that box of Cadbury Roses you bought as an ‘emergency Christmas present’. Like with the popcorn, there are rules here.
If you’re going to indulge in a bit of choccie, always go for the darkest variety you can, because it has almost no sugar and it won’t ruin your blood sugar levels.
Good luck trying to keep it at a couple of squares but really, try to keep it to a couple of squares.
(I wonder if you can melt a bit of this chocolate on some air-popped popcorn? You didn't hear that from me)
This is a good one because it’s full of protein, low on calories and sugar. Add a bit of fruit and you’re golden.
Just stay away from regular yoghurt or already-fruity yoghurt because you’ll just be blowing out on sugar.
Cottage cheese and crackers
Like Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese is packed with protein but super light on the calorie and carb side.
With the crackers, go for bran or whole grain ones. Not the ones with all the salty flavourings on them.
This snack will definitely make you feel full for a while, hopefully until the morning.
