Pizza Hut Has Brought Back The BELOVED 'All You Can Eat'
If you grew up in Australia in the 90s, no doubt you remember that famous red-roofed establishment where many a party and family get-together was held.
Late last year, Pizza Hut opened a concept restaurant in Waterloo in Sydney, to test the waters and find out what people thought of a millenial version of the iconic Sydney establishment, before rolling out the eateries nationwide.
Their feeling was that bacon bits and jelly cubes will no longer cut the mustard.
The new restaurants are far more modern not only in the menu but also the look and feel; sporting a sleek industrial vibe, far better suited to life now.
In the new menu, a few old favourites can be found, as well as some fancier options.
If you love the classic BBQ Meatlovers, go right ahead - otherwise, why not opt for 'Butcher's Block' pizza - complete with steak strips, streaky bacon, pepperoni, smoky honey ham, chicken and Italian sausage on BBQ sauce with a hollandaise drizzle.
They've even introduced tapas-style entrees and sides; like chipotle waffle fries, jalapeno flamers and buffalo wings.
The dessert bar is just like you remember, but in addition to soft serve, also offers frozen custard, chocolate lava cake, a huge Hershey's cookie and apple crumble pizza. Rumour is they're also looking at bringing back crowd favourites chocolate mousse and jelly!
Most excitingly, they've also revived “The Works”. At Waterloo it costs $19.95 and is only available at certain times. The deal includes garlic bread, unlimited pizza by the slice, a selection of entrees and sides, and unlimited dessert bar. Instead of a centralised pizza buffet where you help yourself, the different pizzas are offered around the restaurant “yum cha style” as soon as they come out of the oven.
HOWEVER, there is no sign of the salad bar. *shrugs shoulders*
The thinking around this is that salad left out can become unfresh - currently the meny offers two salads available to order.
They also have free popcorn for all diners, a Spotify jukebox and drinks like 4 Pines craft beer.
So there's Waterloo, and now a second concept restaurant opened in Marsden Park in Sydney’s west this week.
But it’s not only NSW that will be introduced to the new-look restaurants.
“Darwin opens in a few months, we have a site in Perth, another one in Brisbane — for the rest of this year there’s probably about another eight [concept locations that will open] and then we will really be ramping it up to roll out at least 100 over the next two to three years,” explains Pizza Hut Australia Innovation Director Matt Sawyer.
