Bad News On the Horizon for Stan and Netflix Fans

A new concept is being debated by the Australian government which could see streaming services like Netflix and Stan, blocked from the aussie market!

The comprehensive review is underway, aimed at ensuring a certain quota of local content is provided.

Free-to-air networks in Australia are currently required to deliver 55% local content on main channels in prime time, but there is no such legislation aimed at streaming services, according to

“Over the past decade, fundamental changes have taken place in the media landscape, defined by the entry of new online services offering catch up TV, streaming, subscription video on demand and user generated video,” the Department of Communications wrote.
