Melbourne Is Getting a Drive-In ROOFTOP Cinema
Melbourne is the place for rooftops and drive-in cinemas, but what if you combined the two!
Well good news! – a team of genius people have already done that and it opens on Boxing Day at Dockland’s Harbour town precinct.
Punters will be able to drive-in and enjoy new release movies all while being surrounded by 360-degree views of the city.
According to Concrete Playground, this modern-day drive-in will cater for up to 65 vehicles and boast two separate screens.
Tickets will start at $50 per car or $15 per head to use the ‘blue-deck’ for people without a car.
There’ll also be food stalls and a candy car stocked with choc tops and of course popcorn.
Co-founder Tony Ianiro of ‘The Backlot Rooftop’ told The Age that the cinema would operate "seven days a week, all-year round," and said they were also scoping out potential sites in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
The Backlot Rooftop Drive-In is located at 90 Waterfront Way from December 26. For more information, and the full program once it drops, visit www.backlotrooftop.com.au.
