Matthew Newton Vows Never To Return To Australia

It's been reported that Australian actor Matthew Newton has no plans to ever return home, causing his long suffering parents Bert and Patti Newton incredible grief and sadness.

The troubled star has kept a low profile since he moved to the U.S. in 2012, and according to Woman's Day it appears unlikely that he will return.

Matthew's decision has been particularly distressing for his 74-year-old mother, showbiz veteran Patti.

A source told Woman's Day that: 'Because of his scandals over the years, he can't face coming home to Australia'

'Matthew lives a private, almost reclusive, life with (rumoured wife) Catherine Schneiderman in New York now, where he is rarely bothered. He has no desire to reawaken old demons by returning to Australia,'

The 42 year old's decision has left his family devastated.

'Every family occasion is tinged with sadness for Patti,' said a friend.

'She wishes Matthew would be there with them, but she's given up hope of that ever happening.'

Matthew was forced to withdraw as director of the Hollywood film Eve last year after a social media backlash over his chequered history.

Newton, who suffers from bipolar disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder has a long rap sheet including drug and assault allegations.

Two former girlfriends: Australian actresses Brooke Satchwell, 38, and Rachael Taylor, 34 both made claims against Newton regarding abuse.

In 2006, he was arrested for the alleged physical assault of Satchwell.

In 2010, Taylor filed a protective order against Newton, alleging physical, verbal and emotional abuse.

Newton was also arrested twice in Florida in 2012 - firstly for trespassing and resisting officers, while a second incident saw him charged with battery and resisting arrest after attacking a hotel receptionist.
