Keira Reveals Shock Details About Polygamous Cult Childhood
She had a truly unique upbringing, and Keira Maguire opened up about being raised in a polygamous cult on Sunday night’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
The former Bachelor star, 30, revealed shock details about her cult childhood, including the admission that she didn’t know who her mother was until she was six-years-old.
“My mum was in a cult. My dad was the leader of it. And there were guys and girls in it and all come from broken homes and had been going through certain things so it got to the point where he started to build a family and they were all of his wives.
“There was like 63 children ... You've got to remember there were nine wives.”
“I didn't know who my real mum was until I was like, six,” she told fellow campmate Lisa Curry. “I didn't even know what a mum was.”
Keira opened up about how difficult it was growing up in such unusual circumstances.
“I just knew I wasn't normal and I really didn't like that,” she said. “People would point at us and say 63 because there were 63 children.”

But the outspoken reality star admitted it wasn’t all bad, saying: “What I can remember was quite fun. We did musicals and stuff, but then I have only have very small memories of it.”
Keira was a member of the 71 person cult until she was five-years-old when she relocated to Brisbane to be raised by her mother and grandmother.
Her biological father, cult leader and convicted paedophile Alistah Laishkochav passed away three years ago, and Keira admitted his passing was a huge ‘relief.’
“It felt a relief for me because I didn't have to explain about my dad, do you know what I mean? As soon as he passed away, it sounds bad but it kind of made me feel better,” she said.
‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ returns Monday 7:30pm.
