Father’s Plea For Help To Find Sippy Cup For Autistic Son
On Monday Marc Carter took to Twitter to make a slightly unusual request…
Could anyone help him find a Tommee Tippee cup.
However, it couldn’t be just any old - or new - cup. There was a specific version he was after.
You see, it was the only cup his son Ben, who was severely autistic, would drink from.
As the UK dad explained: “Since the age of 2 he has drunk exclusively from a little blue Tommee Tippee two handled cup,” he wrote.
“Fortunately about 3 years ago we managed to replace this very old and disintegrating cup with a newer one – cup part first, lid a few weeks later. He was suspicious but we survived.”
While many would question why the 14-year-old wasn’t drinking out of a glass, Marc revealed things weren’t that easy.
Non-verbal and with a very limited understanding, Ben had some very specific issues when it came to drinking water.
“Ben hasn’t drunk at school since the age of 5, he doesn’t drink outside of the house so we can’t go anywhere,” Marc wrote on Twitter.
“People say he will drink when he’s thirsty, but two emergency trips to A&E with severe dehydration say otherwise.
“These cups are not made anymore, the replacements are all new and fancy, we’ve tried them, Ben throws them at us.”
With Ben’s current cup close to falling apart, Marc took to Twitter in desperation and out of fear of what might happen if he didn’t find a replacement.
Luckily, his call for help was quickly answered. Repeatedly.
In fact, the response was that overwhelming the father of three had to take to Twitter again.
Unable to keep up with all the Tweets and questions Marc is now asking for patience and for anyone with an exact replica to contact him on his business account @PMPProject.
Old, scratched and used – it doesn’t matter for this father. As long as it’s an exact replica, he’ll take it.
