Father And Daughter Fight To Keep Child They Had Together
A father and daughter couple from Spain are fighting social services to keep a baby they had together as a result of incest.
In Spain, incest between two consenting adults is legal.
However, the couple from Majorca, Spain, say they're being victimised because of the nature of their relationship.
The 36-year-old father, Cris, told local newspaper Cronica Balear "They tell you that this relationship is not good for the baby, they told us it is immoral and that what we have done is wrong, although on paper they put something else because legally they cannot say they are taking the girl away because it is an immoral relationship".
Cris had a sexual relationship with his now 18-year-old daughter, Sara when she was 17. Sara is the oldest of his five children.
The age of sexual consent in Spain is 16.
Prior to the baby being born, the couple was contacted by authorities after Cris's ex-wife, Sara's mother, filed an abuse complaint.
"My ex-wife is jealous and cannot understand the relationship. So she is trying to destroy it" Cris said.
Just hours after the baby was born, she was taken into the car of the state due to concerns for her safety.
Cris says he and his daughter are in a loving relationship and that they're going in public in hopes of getting back their daughter.
"Our relationship started like they all do, with flirting, getting along and then trust. We may be father and daughter but she has never seen me as a parent because I am much more like a friend than a father figure".
