People Can't Get Through The 1st Ep Of This "Horrific" Show

Jessica Biel's new TV show sounds so far removed from her Seventh Heaven days that we can't quite believe it's the same actor.

The Sinner premiered in the US a couple of days ago and, while it was very obvious why the show has already received huge critical acclaim, the premise was so horrific that some viewers couldn't make it through the full episode.

That "jaw-dropping" scene is what sets the seriously disturbing tone for the eight-episode series, which revolves around mum-of-one Cora Tannetti - played by Biel - flipping out during a family trip to the beach.

Out of nowhere, and seemingly provoked by nothing, Cora launches herself at another holidaymaker, stabbing him to death in front of hundreds of stunned witnesses.

Just minutes later, we find out that Cora has no relation to the man, has never met him before, and doesn't know why she killed him.

So what the hell happened?

Sounds like you're going to have to get through the first episode to find out.

The show, which debuted at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, is based on a German novel of the same name by Petra Hammesfahr and has been described by Biel herself as "dark".

"She does not want to get into her past," she teased recently. "Her past is such a place of shame and of fear. She's living with these big secrets."

We're intrigued!
