Netflix Is Hiding The Most Underrated TV Show

Dorky guy meets rebel girl. This is their story.

Even if you have never seen an episode of Judd Apatow's Netflix series LOVE  you can safely assume you know what the story is about.

While of course, the show is about love, it is more than a silly rom-com that the title suggests.

Instead, LOVE, which dropped a second season back in March, is a true depiction of reality. Relationships are complicated. We’re all insecure. Even the toughest of us.

While the lead characters, Gus (Paul Rust) and Mickey (Gillian Jacobs), can seem a little exaggerated at times, the intense awkwardness and deeply real relatable situations are what makes this show great.

He is a mega-dorky male who has jam sessions with his geeky friends and she is a sex, love and alcohol addict.

The couple meet through a very typical ‘Apatowian’ adventure. It’s accidental and crazy and there are drugs, ex-girlfriends and throwing DVDs out of a moving car…

While the circumstances set the scene, it’s not what makes the show utterly addictive and enjoyable.

The characters are both in their early thirties, which gives a slight maturity to the show, however, their inability to be in functional relationships prove that no matter the age – finding a compatible connection is hard.

At times, it is impossible not to squirm or keep your eyes open from what is unfolding in front of you.

The awkward sex scenes (which are utterly authentic), uncomfortable first dates and the terrible raw emotions are crazily relatable.

Mickey’s flat mate Bertie, is a stand out. An Australian actress by the name of Claudia O’Doherty, who happens to be Reg Mombassa’s daughter. She is the most underrated character in the show and gives relief, when is relief is due.

If you’ve finished bingeing on OITNB and House Of Cards, LOVE should be next on your click list.
