Madonna's Child's Dad Fears For His Son
Madonna's adopted son David Banda's biological father has "huge concerns" over how the singer's legal troubles are affecting her other children.
Madonna launched legal action against her ex-husband Guy Ritchie in both the UK and the US after their son Rocco, 15, refused to return to her New York home following a trip to London to stay with his father in December.
The case has been heard in courts on both sides of the Atlantic, but earlier this month, it was ruled that the English case could be closed and the battle would continue in New York.
As well as Rocco, Madonna is mother to 19-year-old daughter Lourdes, 10-year-old David, whom she adopted in 2006 from his native Malawi, and Mercy, 10, who was also adopted from Malawi in 2009.
Now, David's father Yohane Banda has given a new interview in which he expressed his fears about just how Madonna's custody battle over Rocco is impacting the rest of her family.
"Madonna and Guy's custody battle turning bitter and nasty is a huge concern," he told Britain's The Sun newspaper.
"I'd like to know what's going on behind closed doors and why Rocco wanted to leave his mum and live with his dad like that.
"My children are all very close and have lots of fun together, which is how life should be for brothers and sisters. One child living in New York and another in London sounds like an unhappy situation to me."
Since splitting from movie director Guy in 2008, Madonna has had several relationships with younger men, including Jesus Luz and Brahim Zaibat.
These dalliances have been met with disapproval by Yohane, who continued: "What I have heard about Madonna's lifestyle since her divorce from Guy sounds quite shocking.
"Her having much younger boyfriends isn't in line with Malawian culture at all. David would not be exposed to that sort of thing here. It's not how we live. We have strong family values.
"Although we live a simple life, there's never things like huge arguments between the parents at home. Everyone is happy and smiling and laughing all the time."
Yohande added to the publication that despite reports that David has been "pining" for Rocco since the custody battle began, he doesn't think he will follow in his sibling's footsteps - because it was always Madonna who dealt with the adoption rather than Guy.
He also revealed that as far as he understands it, David will be returning home to Malawi once Madonna has fulfilled her intention of giving him "a good education".
"It was Madonna who wanted to take David to live with her," Yohande continued. "The only reason I let Madonna adopt David was because she promised me she would give him a good education and then he could come home to live with me."
