Kim Kardashians Meeting With Donald Trump Appears Successful
Yesterday one of the most bizarre things happened in the White House (and we reckon there’s a lot of competition in this category with the Trump’s living there…).
President Donald Trump and the woman who we reckon could be described as the president of reality TV, Kim Kardashian, met for a meeting in the oval office. And no it wasn’t to discuss the world of reality TV or Kanye’s bid to run for President in 2020.
Kim called the meeting with Donald Trump in order to to discuss prison reform and more specifically the pardon of Alice Marie Johnson who has been behind bars for over 2 decades for a first-time, non-violent drug offence.
Kim has since spoken out about her experience with Donald Trump saying that she is hopeful Alice Marie Johnson will be granted a pardon.
I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 31, 2018
We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she —and so many like her—will get a second chance at life.— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) May 31, 2018
Ms Johnson has currently spent 21-years behind bars after being sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1997. The woman’s story caught the attention of Kim Kardashian after she saw a short video about the case.
The KKW Beauty founder shared the video to her socials and has been advocating for her release since, even going as far as to pay for a new legal team for Ms Johnson, so that she can be granted a second chance at life.
This is so unfair... https://t.co/W3lPINbQuy— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) October 26, 2017
Kardashian has been in talks with Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, about Ms Johnson and prison reform for the past few months and now she’s taken the issue straight to the White House!
Donald Trump, ever the avid tweeter, also posted about the meeting saying that the meeting went well.
Despite the praise that the meeting has seen on social media it is still unknown whether Trump will actually Pardon Ms Johnson.
