Keith Flint, The Prodigy's Iconic Frontman, Has Passed Away

A dance icon has fallen.

The Prodigy's vocalist Keith Flint has died after taking his own life at his Essex home.

A police spokesman confirmed the news overnight:

“We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday,” he said.

“We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The band also released a statement :

It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint. A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed.

The dance music community is now faced with the prospect of mourning the loss of one of their most influential figures - Flint being the unforgettable face of arguably the most influential electronic group of all time.

While he didn't write the songs, Flint's ferocious live performances and demonic persona put The Prodigy firmly at the top of the totem pole as they dominated the rave scene in the 1990s.

Bandmate Liam Howlett, wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend. I’m shell shocked, fuckin angry, confused and heart broken ..... r.i.p brother Liam”.

The group had only just wrapped up a tour in Australia weeks ago.
