Chrissy Teigen Cops Twitter Backlash, Again
Model Chrissy Teigen has created a stir after revealing that she and husband John Legend purposely chose a female embryo during their IVF treatment.
"I picked her and was like, `let's put in the girl,'" Teigen told People.
"I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me."
The comments caused a Twitter storm, with Teigen accused of "messing with the natural blessings from God", said @real_vondacole.
"@chrissyteigen and since you have money you can adopt and provide for two or three kids....smh stupid b****," Elizabeth Colin added.
The model fought back with a series of witty tweets to defend herself.
What year is this!? And for the record, I am always happy and open to speak on infertility. The more casual, the better! I don't mind.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 24, 2016
I also picked the embryo with a taste for bacon, a knack for magic and size 7 feet so she can always find shoes— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 24, 2016
This is all so interesting. I said it so casually because i'm just open. I'm around so many open-minded people & forgot it's controversial.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 24, 2016
anyhow I am not mad at anyone's beliefs but I don't really actively seek out people to make them feel bad about their decisions either.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 24, 2016
stop looking HERE for shit to be mad at. there are so many other things that deserve your outrage.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) February 25, 2016
Fans joined in to fire back at critics and to praise Teigen for being open about her struggles to conceive.
"Thank you for being open about your struggles. You are giving a voice to many women. Anyone who judges you needs to GTFO," Kathleen McKittrick said.
"@chrissyteigen It is blowing my mind how LITTLE the general public knows about infertility Thank you for being a voice for us!" Christy Tyler said.
Another fan added: "don't allow that hate in your life, there are those who love you for who you are. Ignore the haters #staystrong."
Teigen added in her interview with People that was excited to see what she and hubby John Legend will be like as parents.
"We've been together so long and sometimes we look at each other and were like, `I know everything about you and you know everything about me,' but we have no idea what were going to be like as parents.
"I think it'll be really fun."
